ABOUT Regina

It all started when…

Regina knew early in life that she could not stand by and do nothing when encountering the homeless back in 1999! Her first dive into compassionate giving was to tell her friends and family that she was going to give hats and gloves to those who lived on the street. Although some of them laughed, this did not deter her in her determination to advocate for those who needed her help. Through her determination to help others, the word got out about what she was doing and she was soon joined by her church members. Through her dedicated efforts, an initiative was born at Bibleway Baptist Church on 52nd and Master’s Street in West Philadelphia.

In addition, Regina has instilled in her children that same spirit of involvement and passion for the community.

Having a conversation with her son, she recalls,

“While driving in the neighborhood, he noticed the dirt and trash accumulation and felt someone needed to do something about it. I simply told him that “we” are the people who he is waiting on. So, we started planting flowers and picking up litter on the block. Soon other kids on our block started picking up trash with us, with the payment of water ice. From there, it evolved into a weekly situation, and seeing our dedication to cleaning up our block, my neighbors became involved. We gathered to organize prayer on the block, school supplies, and yearly Hot Chocolate parties every January 1st.
